Exploring New ASTM Global Standards For Tiny Houses July 17th, 2021
Big Standards Panel at the Colorado Tiny House Festival is scheduled for 1:00 to 3:00 PM on July 17th, 2021 at The Ranches Events Complex in Loveland, Colorado. The panelists will be discussing an exploratory initiative to develop new ASTM Global standards for tiny houses.
An “Engaging” Session and Panel Discussion about the Ongoing Challenges of Building Codes and Community Development Standards Efforts in the Tiny Home “Universe”
The Big Standards Panel will include the specific challenges that Tiny Home Users are facing in terms of facing the “gauntlet” of local building code oversight and restrictive zoning and ordinances that are still hampering the placement of Tiny Homes. Will outline the barriers for sure, but we will also identify where breakthroughs and best practices have been made and deployed by some local communities in re-considering and allowing Tiny Houses on Wheels, and fixed Tiny Houses on foundations in unique overlay districts and tiny home communities that could form the basis of a “Model Code” that we would like to see developed and become a national standard option.
Special Guest Panelist Jay Shafer
Jay Shafer is the author of The Small House Book and was the original founder of the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company that was developed after he built his own tiny house on wheels.
Jay has been instrumental in inspiring a global love affair with tiny houses and his contribution has sparked a grassroots social movement to downsize, to live sustainably with less and has forged a path for countless individuals, businesses and countries for the legitimacy of tiny houses as a viable solution for housing.
We are honored to have Jay’s support!
