Every day, 10,000 people in America hit retirement age. The retiree population is one of the larger groups who are interested in tiny houses as an option for themselves – as their children move away from home, many seniors are interested in downsizing as they enter their golden years. On the other end of the spectrum, there are those seeking first-time home ownership or more sustainable housing, and tiny houses can be a viable and attainable option for them, as well.
It’s a well known issue: cities across the nation are looking for solutions to the “missing middle” – the segment of the housing market that includes starter homes, duplexes/triplexes, and other options that provide attainable housing.

I am waiting in El Dorado County CA for an Administrative Hearing to allow me to live in my son’s backyard in my Tiny House. He bought his house (.33 acres) in August 2020. I bought my tiny in November 2020. We had the paperwork & permit form ready to turn in for a hardship case. When we went to turn the paperwork in we found out that on December 2nd the board of Supervisors had changed the lot size to 1 acre or greater. Does anyone have any information or advice I could use at my hearing?
