Tiny House Advocate, Writer And National Spokesperson Of THAUS
Melanie Copeland is the National Spokesperson and secretary for Tiny House Alliance USA ( THAUS). She is also going to be the Podcast Host that we are starting in March. Melanie was chosen to be on the board of THAUS because just like Andrew Pleban, the Vice President of THAUS, she has a mind and heart for the industry.
Melanie Copeland – A Kindred Spirit
From the moment I met Melanie, she became a kindred spirit, like a sister to me. When we created the nonprofit, she gave me a very short BIO, and there is so much more to tell, so I am writing an introduction worthy of who she is. She is living her best life with her husband John and their dog Shiloh in a tiny house on wheels that they built in 7 days at an Incredible Tiny House Workshop.
From Living Under The Radar To Living Legally
The best part of their journey home……….is that they went from living under the radar in their tiny house to living legally on their own property in Buckingham County, Virginia. Her tiny house is considered a dwelling ( Not An RV ) through Melanie’s advocacy efforts and the county backed her up all the way, even allowing them to use a compost toilet and to keep the wheels on.
Land Payment Is Less Than $ 100.00 A Month
The tiny house is 100% debt-free and adding their house as a dwelling immediately increased the value of their property. The payment for the land they own is less than $100.00 a month and utilities are minimal because of their construction practices.
It has been such a joy to see the progress that they have made as they have planted gardens, built chicken coops, fences and created a beautiful life for themselves, where they are not enslaved to work at jobs they do not like to pay for things they do not need.
They are truly a minimalist couple, walking the talk.
They are rich in life experiences because they have freed up their time.
