Affordable Cottage Community: Calhoun, Georgia
The Cottages At King Corner is a planned affordable housing community that is being developed by Tiny House Hand Up. There is a severe housing shortage in Calhoun for the working community that has low paying jobs in the area.
Cindy Tucker is the Executive Director of Tiny House Hand Up, a 501 (c ) 3 non-profit that has been working to raise money and partnering with builders and suppliers and local governments to see their plan through. The land was generously gifted by Ginger King.
They are hoping to build 30 to 40 homes. The cottages will between 350 to 800 square feet.
Foundation Homes
The small cottages will be built on a foundation, for one to two individuals. The community will be governed by an HOA. The organization will offer classes for homeowners and potential homeowners related to finance home upkeep and repair. Also, local contractors have offered to provide their services at reduced prices to homeowners in the Tiny House Hand Up community.
Down Payment Assistance
Tiny Hand Up will be working in collaboration with Georgia Dream, the State’s housing agency, their goal is to provide every Georgia citizen the opportunity to have access to safe and affordable housing, no matter their community or income. A community’s housing options are key building blocks in the community fabric, and they work with local governments, housing authorities, for-profit and non-profit developers, community groups, and landlords statewide to meet the housing and community needs of all Georgians.

This looks awesome! I built a 450 sq.ft. House on a foundation in SC. I wish there was some type of a community like this in my area. I love my little house but would be great if I was in a community like what you have planned.
