Hosted By Ensemble Ventures And Tiny House Alliance USA
Why Have This Webinar?
As you know Janet Thome, the Founder, President And Treasurer of the Tiny House Alliance USA Association has been leading the charge on this new ASTM Standards effort for close to a year now…
I told her I would be willing to cover some of these topics in more depth outside of the current exploratory ASTM Standards Committee calls and meetings, and she thought it might be a helpful exercise. Again many of you know that Janet has been a major proponent of the Tiny Home Community model for the marketplace and has been documenting and chronicling the history and current developments in the industry at their website which covers a wide-ranging area of topics, reference information, and thought leadership content.
Description
Tiny Home Communities and Micro Grids: A Deeper Dive Webinar
In this webinar we will have a chance to review a number of possible “Community-oriented” Land Use Zoning and Ordinances that are being considered by a number of communities across the USA to begin leveraging Tiny Homes as a true alternative housing solution. We will also discuss some of the challenges that city, county and land use planning organizations face when trying to adapt THOW’s (Tiny Houses on Wheels) in their communities, and how the cost of utility provisioning tends to impact and seriously hamper these unique housing developments. We will review some of the proposed Tiny Home Community and Micro Grid standards that we are proposing for the ASTM process, and allow participants to explore and discuss the various features, advantages, and benefits of developing a comprehensive set of Adaptable Community Codes for Tiny Home Communities.
Guest Participants And Speakers
Mike will provide an introduction and overview to the tiny home community development concept that is being proposed for the ASTM Tiny Home Standards Committee initiative. A quick review of current “early” tiny home community developments and best practices will be covered in addition to a presentation about a more “unified” standard for tiny home communities that can address current market and user needs. Also, Mike will provide an introductory “101” overview of Micro Grids and how they might be applied to the development of Tiny Home Communities covering some of the possible existing utility and energy management standards we can point to that already exist that might be applied for our proposed Micro Grid standards.
ARVC
Jeff will provide some perspectives about rhe ARVC’s experience with the NFPA 1194 Standard for RV Parks and Campgrounds and how this NFPA Standard might be able to be “Adapted” to accommodate a Tiny Home Community Standard in our ASTM effort. Nothing is “official” at this point, we are just exploring the possibilities !!
We have asked Lissy to provide some “insights” in how the ASTM International group was able to accommodate a 50-state standards process for the Cannabis industry, and how they were able to address the many “moving parts” of their process for getting the Cannabis Industry organized.
